Plating Technician

Location: Dayton, Ohio
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Multiple shifts available

$19.00 per hour

12% Second Shift Differential
8% Third Shift Differential

Position Summary

The Plating Technician is responsible for supporting metal finishing and plating operations by preparing, processing, inspecting, and packaging parts in accordance with customer specifications and internal quality standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow technical instructions, and a commitment to workplace safety and production efficiency.

The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically inclined, team-oriented, and motivated to learn and grow within a manufacturing environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Rack and un-rack parts for plating and finishing processes
  • Package finished parts to prevent damage and ensure quality standards are met
  • Read and follow job routers, work instructions, and processing documentation accurately
  • Monitor production equipment and record process data, counts, and measurements as required
  • Perform visual inspections and quality checks throughout the production process
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet productivity, quality, and scheduling goals
  • Assist with troubleshooting production or process-related issues
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide feedback on process enhancements
  • Follow all company safety procedures, environmental policies, and PPE requirements
  • Complete additional tasks and duties as assigned by leadership

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, metal finishing, plating, production, or related industries preferred
  • Examples include automotive, landscaping, mechanical repair, food production, warehouse, trades, or industrial environments
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Basic math, reading, writing, and communication skills required
  • Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, shop orders, sketches, and schematics preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Self-motivated with a positive work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, twist, reach overhead, and climb stairs as needed
  • Ability to work on uneven surfaces within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to frequently lift, move, push, or pull up to 75 pounds
  • Visual acuity required to inspect parts, read documentation, and monitor production processes
  • Ability to hear equipment changes, paging systems, alarms, and safety announcements

Work Environment

This position operates within a manufacturing and production environment where employees may be exposed to:

  • Humidity, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures
  • Industrial machinery and production equipment
  • Chemicals used in plating and finishing processes
  • Noise levels requiring hearing protection

Employees are provided with all required safety training and personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to:

  • Safety glasses
  • Hearing protection
  • Dust masks or respirators
  • ANSI-approved safety-toe footwear
  • Additional PPE as required
