Position Summary
Automation Systems & Design is seeking a skilled and motivated Journeyman Electrician to join our team in Moraine, Ohio. This position is responsible for installing, wiring, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and components used in industrial automation equipment, machinery, control panels, and manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong electrical knowledge, a commitment to safety, and experience working with industrial electrical systems and automation equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems, machinery, and automation equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Install and terminate conduit, wiring, cable trays, and electrical components according to code and project specifications.
- Wire and assemble industrial control panels, PLC systems, motors, drives, sensors, and automation equipment.
- Diagnose electrical malfunctions using testing and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, meggers, and other electrical testing devices.
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and automated control systems.
- Ensure all electrical installations comply with National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA regulations, and company safety standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and machine builders during equipment fabrication and installation.
- Assist with machine startup, commissioning, and field service activities as required.
- Document work performed, repairs completed, and materials used.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent documented electrical apprenticeship completion required.
- Minimum of 3 years of industrial electrical experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, and automation equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Experience with PLC wiring, industrial control panels, sensors, relays, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in industrial automation, machine building, or manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of PLC systems such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Omron.
- Experience with robotics, servo systems, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Forklift and aerial lift experience.
- Ability to travel occasionally for customer installations and service work.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in varying positions throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier loads with assistance.
- Ability to work in industrial environments with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and moving equipment.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, elevated areas, and around energized equipment while following proper safety procedures.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Benefits
