Coding Compliance Specialist Essential Duties:

  • Reviews medical record documentation and accurately assigns appropriate coding timely for:  CPT, ICD10, and HCPCS, supporting the reason for the visit, medical necessity, and reflects patient complexity/acuity.
  • Performs audits for coding and documentation accuracy for assigned providers and provides feedback and education to providers on areas of improvement and/or works with leadership on plan for process improvement.
  • Coordinates, documents, and develops the requirements of care documentation associated with physician quality data reporting.
  • Collaborates with all revenue cycle and management associates to ensure accuracy and efficiency, processes information to ensure successful billing of patient accounts.
  • Assists in other activities and departments when requested.
  • Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities to support the quality of services.
  • Precepts new staff to support professional relationships with newly hired team members as required.

Coding Compliance Specialist Qualifications:

  • Associate degree (A.A., A.S. or A.G.S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • Current Certification by AAPC or AHIMA required
  • Two years of experience in a health care setting, prior electronic health experience preferred
  • Computer skills sufficient to properly execute coding, revenue management and communicate effectively
  • Ability to drive during daytime, nighttime or inclement weather
  • Valid Driver’s License with Safe Driving Record
  • State Minimum Automobile Insurance Coverage
