We are currently seeking experienced MEALS ON WHEELS DRIVERS for positions in the Dayton Area. We have an ongoing need for people that are passionate about giving back to their community through serving home-bound seniors. This position is accountable for packing, driving, delivering and service monitoring meals delivered to clients. Persons performing this position must be flexible and willing to perform a variety of duties or routes from day-to-day. Must be 25 years old or older to drive for us. The shifts are typically 4-5 hours per day are generally between the hours of 9:00am and 3:00pm Monday-Friday, NO WEEKENDS. Hourly wage plus mileage reimbursement.

REQUIREMENTS:
Drives (own vehicle) and delivers meals to eligible customers.
Assists in the packing of home-delivered meals as scheduled and assigned and counting their assigned route meals and food needed.
Assures each customer receives the appropriate type and quantity of food and monitors the quality (i.e. temperature, appearance, etc.) of the meal.
Uses and returns all necessary tools (i.e. route sheet, keys, map, etc.)
Cleans and sanitizes coolers and food equipment used in deliveries on a daily basis.
Acts as a representative of the Meals on Wheels program.
Greets customers in a polite and cordial manner and expresses patience, caring and respect.
Monitors well-being of customers (i.e. health, living conditions, services needed, etc.) and makes report to supervisor.
Distributes and collects materials to customers (i.e. contribution envelopes, flyers, surveys, etc.) as required.
Maintains accurate records.
Reviews, verifies and completes daily information (i.e. driver’s notes etc.)
Obtains client signatures on a monthly basis for receipt of meals.
Accurately completes all written documentation and submits in a timely manner (i.e. time/mileage sheet, route sheet, leave requests, incident reports, etc.)
Continually reviews route sheet and updates information (i.e. special instructions, cross streets, etc.) to ensure efficient delivery of meals.
Attends mandatory monthly training meetings.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF: Food service operations and procedures; local area streets and highways; food sanitation and safe food handling practices.
ABILITY TO: Communicate with older adults and those with special needs in a patient manner; read and understand street maps; maintain effective working relationships with staff, clients and general public and drives in a pro-active and safe manner.
SKILL IN: Counting, writing, reading and following schedules, directions and maps.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift, from floor to waist up to 40 lbs.; take bags down from top racks; 2 handed carrying; pulling and pushing products weighing up to 40 lbs. on a cart. Physical actions include standing, walking, climbing, carrying, handling, stooping, twisting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, reading and driving a vehicle.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate or equivalent with the ability to count and keep accurate reports.
Must be over 25.
Must have valid Ohio Driver’s License and appropriate auto insurance, have and maintain a good driving record; must possess a reliable vehicle and must pass a criminal background check and maintain a clear record. Must have personal vehicle.
