When will 2018 YouthWorks applications be accepted?
Applications will be accepted through May 31st, 2018. The application period will close May 31st, 2018.

All required documents must be received in Youth Career Services within 3 business days of application.

What is Youth Career Services 365? 
Youth Career Services 365 (YCS365), a Comprehensive Case Management and Employment Program (CCMEP) that replaces Montgomery County YouthWorks Summer Employment Program. YCS365 allows eligible youth ages 14 to 18 who reside in Montgomery County the opportunity to receive work experience and training during the summer as well as throughout the other three (3) seasons of the year (fall, winter, and spring). Each session will be up to 10 weeks long; 8 weeks of work experience and up to 2 weeks of training.

How do I qualify for Youth Career Services 365?
To be eligible for Youth Career Services 365, you must be at least 14 years old but not over 18 years old at the time of application, meet income guidelines and have at least (1) barrier to employment/education and must permanently reside in Montgomery County.  Note:  Median and Above Income Youth are encouraged to apply as limited additional funding has been made available.

How do I apply for Youth Career Services 365?
To apply, visit www.ohiomeansjobs/montgomery click the “YOUTH” tab and complete and submit the application online. The application process includes the submission of all required verification documents at the time of application. Review the list of required documents and have them ready (see Required Documents Checklist).

Do I have to work all year?
No. However, you must participate in and successfully complete the summer session to be considered eligible to participate in any of the other sessions.

Where do I submit my WIOA Youth Eligibility application?
Applications must be submitted using the online form. Youth Career Services cannot mail applications to you, nor are applications accepted by mail.

How long do I have to submit ALL required documents after I have applied?
All required documents must be received in Youth Career Services within 3 business days of application. Documents NOT received within 3 business days of application, will be denied.

When will the application period end?
Applications period will end May 31, 2018.

What is the Comprehensive Case Management and Employment Program (CCMEP)?
CCMEP provides employment and training services to eligible, low-income individuals based on a comprehensive assessment of employment and training needs, as well as a basic skills assessment. Participants are provided services to support goals outlined in their Individual Opportunity Plan, which may include support to obtain a high school diploma, job placement, work experience, and other supportive services such as child care and transportation. This is NOT an entitlement program.

Who can participate in YouthWorks Summer Program and YCS365?
Median and Above Income Youth are encouraged to apply as limited additional funding has been made available. Youth that meet both Program/Service Eligibility Criteria:

Program Criteria
Deadline: May 31, 2018
Eligible youth ages 14 to 18 who reside in Montgomery County 
Low-income, in-school youth considered to have a barrier to employment and registered for a WIOA program
Median and Above Income Youth are encouraged to apply as limited additional funding has been made available

Service Criteria
Complete Comprehensive Assessment Tool (JFS 03006)
Submit current state standardized test scores or complete TABE Basic Skills Assessment
Participate in the development of an Individual Opportunity Plan (JFS 03004)

Will applications be accepted from youth who are “above” income (above 200% FPG)?
Yes, above income, in-school youth are encouraged to apply.

What is required to participate in YCS365?
Complete all documents outlined in the Application Process and submit as indicated
Submit current state standardized test score reports or complete the TABE basic skills assessment (within last 6 months)
Attend Assessment Appointment(s) and complete all Service Eligibility documents
Submit current Work Permit Application prior to start of work session (if required)
Attend ALL mandatory trainings and events
Comply with all Montgomery County Youth Career Services Terms & Conditions 

If I apply, am I guaranteed to be a program participant?
No, not all that apply will be accepted to participate. Selection will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Do I get paid for work experience hours?
All work experience participants will be paid via direct deposit to the checking or savings account at their banking institution of choice. It is the responsibility of the participant/guardian to maintain their account. Participants will be paid bi-weekly for hours worked.

Can I be involved in extra-curricular activities and still participate in the Youth Career Services 365 program?
If you are involved in extra-curricular activities (i.e.: football, soccer, debate team, orchestra, etc.) then you CANNOT participate during the same season that you are participating in such activities. However, you CAN participate when you are NOT involved in those activities. The applicants must indicate which sessions they desire to work at the time of application. 

Can I work without a work permit?
All participants that are under the age of 18 years of age must submit a current work permit BEFORE the first work day of the summer session.

How many hours am I allowed to work?
During the Summer session, participants can work up to 20 hours/week. During the Fall, Winter and Spring sessions, participants can work up to 10 hours/week.

What is the difference between Program Eligibility and Service Eligibility?
Program Eligibility refers to the statutory definition of the target group (i.e., characteristics of the group, like being between ages 14-18).

Service Eligibility refers to youth that have met program eligibility requirements but have also qualified for services based on the results of an objective assessment (i.e., completion of TABE assessment and signing of Individual Opportunity Plan [IOP]).

Where are we located and when is the office open?
The YouthWorks program is operated through OhioMeansJobs I Montgomery County Youth Career Services for the occupational skills enrichment and application. Work Experience opportunities will occur in various locations throughout Montgomery County. Walk-in hours for Application Assistance or for those having issues completing the application are as follows:

Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
Tuesday/Thursday: 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
