Maintenance & General Laborer

Position Summary
Due to continued company growth, Techmetals is seeking a dependable and motivated Maintenance & General Laborer to join our team. This hands-on role is responsible for supporting facility operations through preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, general labor, and facility upkeep activities. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and eager to contribute to a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced maintenance professionals while developing valuable technical and industrial skills through on-the-job training and continued learning opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative, predictive, proactive, and emergency maintenance on facility and production equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and assist in identifying equipment malfunctions
- Disassemble machinery and replace defective or worn parts as needed
- Support equipment installations, repairs, and facility improvement projects
- Complete general labor tasks including sweeping, cleaning, organizing, and maintaining work areas
- Assist with painting, ice blasting, power washing, and other facility maintenance projects
- Perform outdoor maintenance duties such as lawn care, weed control, and exterior upkeep
- Safely operate equipment such as scissor lifts and other powered machinery as required
- Use hand and power tools including drills, saws, grinders, and other maintenance equipment safely and effectively
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Follow all company safety procedures, policies, and OSHA regulations
- Work collaboratively with maintenance technicians, electricians, welders, fabricators, and other team members
- Support operational efficiency by responding promptly to maintenance and facility needs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous maintenance, manufacturing, construction, landscaping, or general labor experience preferred
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong work ethic with dependable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing priorities
- Basic computer skills preferred for CMMS usage
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in physically demanding environments for extended periods
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and temperature conditions
- Comfortable working at heights and in industrial environments
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
