Is YouthWorks just summer work experience?

  • YouthWorks is a year-round program. Though work experience is one of our offerings, it is just one of the 14-elements of Service that are offered to participants.

How do I apply for YouthWorks?

  • The YouthWorks Inquiry page is open year-round at Inquiry – The Job Center . Once YouthWorks receives your inquiry, you will be invited to attend a virtual information session and then, in-person enrollment at YouthWorks offices.

What is the best time to apply for the YouthWorks program?

  • Applicants can apply as soon as possible on the day enrollment begins in the Fall and runs through Spring of the following year. Waiting until summer to apply to the program may result in an inability to participate in the summer work experience.

How does a participant remain active in the program?

  • By remaining in contact with their assigned YouthWorks staff, engaging in program offerings every 90 days, and completing an annual Recertification.

How soon will I get a job?

  • To participate in work experience, a participant must be active in the YouthWorks program as well as have attended Job Readiness. Job Readiness sessions are focused on worksite preparation to include decision making, communication skills, and problem solving. Work experiences are offered during the Summer for participants aged 14 and up; During the Fall and Winter for participants who are 16 and up and have maintained at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.

When can I exit from the YouthWorks program?

  • Participants remain in the YouthWorks program until they have graduated with a high school diploma or a recognized equivalent; and entered a career pathway. Should a participant be interested in exiting the YouthWorks program prior to graduating, they would need to inform their assigned Program Specialist and provide the most recent report card.
