When will YouthWorks applications be accepted?
Applications will be accepted year round. (All required documents must be received in Youth Career Services within 5 business days of application.)

What is YouthWorks?
YouthWorks is a youth job readiness program that allows eligible youth ages 14 to 18 who reside in Montgomery County the opportunity to receive work experience and training.

How do I qualify for YouthWorks?
To be eligible for YouthWorks, you must be at least 14 years old but not over 18 years old at the time of application, and you must permanently reside in Montgomery County.

How do I apply for YouthWorks?
Complete the application online. The application process includes the submission of minimum verification documents at the time of application.

Do I have to work all year?
No. However, you must participate in and successfully complete a summer session to be eligible to participate in the fall or winter.

Where do I submit my application?
Applications must be submitted using the online form. Youth Career Services cannot mail applications to you, nor are applications accepted by mail.

How long do I have to submit ALL required documents after I have applied?
All required documents must be received in Youth Career Services within 5 business days of application. Documents NOT received within 5 business days of application will delay your application.

When will the application period end?
Application period is open year round.

What is the Comprehensive Case Management and Employment Program (CCMEP)?
CCMEP provides employment and training services to eligible, low-income individuals based on a comprehensive assessment of employment and training needs, as well as a basic skills assessment. Participants are provided services to support goals outlined in their Individual Opportunity Plan, which may include support to obtain a high school diploma, job placement, work experience, and other supportive services such as child care and transportation. This is NOT an entitlement program.

Who can participate in YouthWorks?
Youth that meet both Program/Service Eligibility Criteria:

Program Criteria

  • Eligible youth ages 14 to 18 who reside in Montgomery County
  • Low-income, in-school youth
  • Median and Above Income Youth are encouraged to apply as limited additional funding has been made available

Service Criteria

  • Provide copies of report cards and certifications when you receive them.
  • Provide proof of an OhioMeansJobs.com account.
  • Comply with all Montgomery County Youth Career Services Terms & Conditions.

Will applications be accepted from youth who are “above” income (above 200% FPG)?
Yes, above-income, in-school youth are encouraged to apply, as limited additional funding has been made available

What is required to participate in YouthWorks?
Complete all steps outlined in the Application Process and submit as indicated.

If I apply, am I guaranteed to be a program participant?
No, not all that apply will be accepted to participate. Selection will be handled on a case-by-case basis, based on the availability of funds.

Do I get paid for work experience hours?
All work experience participants will be paid via direct deposit to the checking or savings account at their banking institution of choice. It is the responsibility of the participant/guardian to maintain their account. Participants will be paid bi-weekly for hours worked.

Can I be involved in extra-curricular activities and still participate in the YouthWorks program?
If you are involved in extra-curricular activities (i.e.: football, soccer, debate team, orchestra, etc.) then you CANNOT participate during the same season that you are participating in such activities. However, you CAN participate when you are NOT involved in those activities. The applicants must indicate which sessions they desire to work at the time of application.

Can I work without a work permit?
All participants that are under the age of 16 years of age must submit a current work permit BEFORE the first work day of the Summer session. Participants under the age of 18 must submit a current work permit before the first day of the Fall-Winter session.

How many hours am I allowed to work?
During the summer session, participants can work up to 20 hours/week. During the fall and winter session, participants can work up to 10 hours/week.
